The Tides Center: Disrupted Homelands (2018)
This collection delves into themes of confinement, resilience, and the ways individuals navigate spaces that restrict yet transform them. The recurring image of brick walls—fractured, covered in vines, or enclosing figures—serves as a metaphor for both physical barriers and the emotional weight they carry. These walls hold stories of separation, struggle, and quiet persistence, yet they also offer glimpses of growth, movement, and connection.
In these works, I examine the tension between what confines us and what allows us to endure. Through layered media, muted tones, and vivid accents, the pieces aim to evoke quiet resilience and celebrate the beauty that can emerge from hardship.
